To many of us seaplane pilots, going to Oshkosh's AirVenture is like going to a family reunion. In fact, for me it is much better than that. Where else in the world can you enjoy hours of beautiful seaplanes coming and going at the most beautiful seaplane base in America, re-acquaint yourself with friends you haven't seen in a year and make new friends, relax around the beautiful grounds, eat delicious motor-home-cooked meals, and party into the wee hours of the night? My dear friend Bill Bold (a future seaplane pilot) and I both had to fight the "Evil Empire" (our airline) to get the time off for that awesome week in Wisconsin. We arrived later than usual, but still in time for SPA's Thursday evening Corn Roast. Think of a family or high school reunion dinner with more 500 people, and that's exactly what the Corn Roast is! There's simply not enough time in one night to catch up with all your friends and tell all those flying lies....ok, stories!
