To imagine the Adirondacks without thinking of the seaplane services that helped build the area is a difficult task for those who have experienced the greatness of these machines and their pilots. Watching these aircraft as a youngster is what instilled in me a passion for aviation. Countless pilots have visited Adirondack lakes in their personal seaplanes. The Adirondacks offer beautiful scenery, numerous lakes, and seclusion without having to venture too far from civilization. Increased regulations and limited landing sights can hamper a pilot's travels, but these are just small bumps in the overall trip. There are, however, a few seaplane services that still call the Adirondacks home, and these regulations affect not only the very way of life of these Adirondack natives, but also a necessary service for locals and visitors alike.
