These organisms can easily be transported from one lake to another by boats, fishermen, and perhaps even seaplanes, and can decimate commercial and sport fishing in areas that are infected, causing the loss of millions of dollars to the affected region. In preparing for this summer's EAA AirVenture Splash-In on Lake Winnebago, SPA produced large vinyl posters for the seaplane base that had specific steps seaplane pilots could take to prevent the spread of this virus. We also produced pamphlets with the same information that were to be distributed to all incoming pilots at the seaplane dock. These notices were developed not only to alert pilots to the dangers of spreading these viruses, but also to telegraph to the public that the seaplane community is on top of this issue and is doing its part to combat the problem. However, AirVenture officials declined to post or distribute the material out of concern that the messages would send a negative mes- sage to the non-flying public that visited the AirVenture seaplane base.
