The Third Global Water Policy Dialogue of the Institute of Water Policy, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, on "Governance in urban water quality and water disasters: a focus on Asia" was organized at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, on 6 July 2011. It was organized within the framework of the Singapore International Water Week and in collaboration with the International Water Resources Association (IWRA) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The objective of the Policy Dialogue was to analyze the main policies and governance practices regarding urban water quality and take a closer look at the effect of disasters in different countries in Asia. The discussions provided a framework for exchange of knowledge and experience, assessed the present state of the art and also looked towards the future in terms of possible alternatives and challenges. Both theoretical and practical approaches were addressed.
