摘要

Glenn E. Stout, President of IWRA from 1995-7 and Executive Director of IWRA from 1987-94, passed away on 27 June 2011. Dr Stout began his academic career in 1942 as Instructor at the University of Chicago. He served as an aerologist in the US Naval Reserves during the Second World War and as a weather instructor at Chanute Air Field in Illinois between 1946 and 1947. In 1947, Dr Stout assumed a position of Engineer at the Illinois State Water Survey. He was appointed Head of the Atmospheric Science Section in 1952 and Assistant to the Chief in 1971, after holding a two-year post of Scientific Coordinator at the US National Science Foundation in Washington, DC. From 1973, he served as Director of Water Resources Research Centre and Professor at the Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of Illinois.
