Recent technology advances have seemingly made life easier - witness the move from typewriters to computers, standard to electronic mail, analog tapes to MP3s, but advancing technologies also can amplify other issues such as carpal tunnel syndrome, spamming and copyright infringement. Similarly, AC adjustable speed drive technology migrating from Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT) semiconductors to Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs) as the preferred power-switching device, increased pump efficiency and lowered drive packaging costs. The IGBT drive's faster output voltage risetime, however, has created installation challenges for water and wastewater system designers with the phenomenon known as reflected wave.
