The National Nuclear Security Administration's efforts to deploy radiation detectors at borders and ports across the world got a boost in the Fiscal Year 2009 Energy and Water Appropriations bill approved by the House Appropriations Committee last week. The bill provides $88.5 million for the core Second Line of Defense Program-an increase of $10 million over the request. The biggest increase came for the SLD MegaPorts program, which received $183.8 million, an increase of $49.7 million over the request.
