1 The arc was selected as a source of information on non-observable geometric characteristics of the welded joint, such as the height of the reverse bead when argon-arc welding in a QMF. 2 A method was proposed for controlling the height of the reverse bead when argon-arc welding in a QMF using optoelectronic devices enabling information to be obtained on the reverse side of the weld synchronously with the welding process. The method can be used in automated welding systems for measuring and regulating the height of the reverse bead. 3 The method of determining the mathematical dependence of the weld form parameters on the energy balance of the penetration channel, used in electron beam welding, is also suitable for argon-arc TIG welding in a QMF.
