Over the past five financial years, Carlsberg's group sales by valuernhave grown at a compound annual rate of 1.7% – well below thernpace of global nominal GDP growth over the same period. It isrnnot alone in finding growth hard to come by – a key factor behindrnAB InBev's proposed acquisition of SABMiller, which is edgingrncloser, is its desire to find new growth markets. These opportunitiesrnare still concentrated in emerging markets, but many one-time starsrnlike Brazil and Russia are now struggling.
