Diageo, the world's largest spirit producer, has announced plans tonlaunch its premium Chinese baiju brand, Shui Jing Fang, in the UK,npreceding a roll-out across Europe. The move comes 12 months afternthe firm gained control of the brand following the acquisition of annextra 4% of Sichuan Chengdu Quanxing Group Company, increasingnits stake to 53%. As well as offering a chance to tap Europe'snlarge Chinese population, this move can be attributed to Diageo'sndesire to boost the profile of the brand, which is currently a longnway behind market leader Moutai in terms of sales and recognition.
