The presence of influential and important new-comers to the lightingnindustry has never been more palpable. The change to solid-state lighting isnbringing about not just a technological shift, but also an important shift innthe nature and background of the people that make up the industry. Thenconfluence of the new-comers’ outlook, expectations, and view of theneconomic opportunity that solid-state lighting represents is producing a faultnline that is separating the past and future of the lighting industry with anstarkness that has not been witnessed since electric lighting finally overtookngas lighting a century ago.
