If your company is rolling out a large upgrade to Windows 2000 or XP, you may dread the thought of the time you'll spend getting the PCs of frustrated users working the way they're accustomed. With the latest version of the User State Migration Tool (USMT), you can minimize user downtime and irritation by moving user settings to the new OS with a simple command. To migrate users' settings and files with USMT, we'll: 1. Explore the file types that the User State Migration Tool copies. 2. Configure a USMT server share for both the source and destination computers. 3. Scan the source computer and copy the user data to the USMT server. 4. Transfer the user data from the USMT server to the destination computer.
