If you've been working with Windows XP for a while, you're well aware that this operating system's secure remote access and administration tools (Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop Connection) can save time, effort, and frustration for those whose lives are full of the stress of an IT professional. However, if you're still using Windows 2000, Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop Connection aren't available. Luckily, Windows 2000 includes Terminal Services, a lightweight, reliable, and secure terminal emulation service that you can install to run in remote administration mode and to connect to your servers from any PC on which you've installed and configured its client connection software. This affords you the luxury of not being tied to your server when other job responsibilities or your personal life demand your presence elsewhere, because you can perform administrative tasks remotely, even from your home, using an internet connection.
