Ron Rantilla Rowing Systems, designer and maker of the FrontRower,has designed a new 16'6'stitch-and-glue boat,with a beam of 36',designed specif- ically with the patented rowing device in mind.The boat,called the Odyssey 165,is planked in Vs ' plywood sheathed on the exterior in fiberglass cloth and epoxy.The hull weighs only 55 lbs without the rowing setup.The FrontRower can be placed quickly in one of two positions to adjust trim fore-and-aft depending on whether the oarsman is rowing solo or carrying a passenger.Rantilla has developed a precut construction kit and plans,and he can also build boats to order.
