Here are the surviving drawings for a lost design that seems worthy of rediscovery.These old images,taken from The Rudder magazine (April 1949),describe a shallow 34' sharpie.This slender ketch,designed by Robert P.Beebe,should prove about perfect for slipping through the thin water of coastal lagoons to find quiet anchorages out back of nowhere. Some time ago,WoodenBoal asked the designer if he might supply building plans for this "beaching sharpie," which he called CAP'N FRANK.In a letter datedMarch 27,1984,he replied that he could not find the drawings: "Apparently they were in my files that disappeared during a move in 1962.1 am sorry about this because I felt that the hull had great possibilities...that is,a long slim sharpie with the Hampton Flattie treatment aft."
