Boatbuilders must be frustrated contortionists. The muscle-tormenting poses that we take on in order to squeeze into remarkably hard-to-reach places are enough to make a yogi wince. One winter, I spent most of my time installing secret compartments deep in the bilge of a sailing yacht. My massage therapist, "Meathooks," enjoyed the steady work my wracked body provided. For these types of jobs, it's a struggle to hold the drill in the required, odd positions-if you're lucky enough to be able to fit it into the space at all. If a drill (or a drill that is fitted with an angle driver) won't do the trick, then you must take the time to use short-shafted hand drivers. This is a slow and energy-sapping way to proceed.rnThe Orbiter from Milescraft is a specialized attachment that can alleviate these frustrations. While not a panacea, when drilling and setting screws at odd angles is called for, it is a handy tool.
