A rock jammed in the hydraulic driven, underwater dredge pump on our dredge Norma Lee. The rock jammed the impeller and it would not turn. We tried reversing the impeller, driving on the rock with a steel bar and a sledge hammer to break it, but nothing worked. We then put a rose bud heating tip on a cutting torch and heated the rock. As the rock got hot pieces of the rock started to fly off. Shortly the rock split in two and fell out of the impeller. Try it, it worked for us. Be sure to wear safety glasses.
