DANI Rodrik of Princeton is a leading public scholar, who has made tremendous contri-butions to the study of the economics of development and trade. The current volume, The Globalization Paradox: Democracy and the Future of the World Economy (Rodrik, 2011), displays his perception and knowledge in abundance. His discussion of the relationship between trade and development is clear and accessible, yet those familiar with the debates can see that it is backed by the most nuanced and deep understanding of these issues. This book also provides a trenchant and well-informed critique of globalisation. It is worthy of anyone's shelf.
