摘要

Trade in services has been expanding rapidly as a result of innovations in telecommunication and information technology, deregulation by the public sector, liberalisation of capital flows and facilitation of services trade through proliferating regional trade agreements (RTAs). The volume of world trade in services increased 10-fold, from US$387 billion in 1980 to US$3,730 billion in 2008. The growth rate of trade in services (8.5 per cent per year on average) exceeded that of trade in goods (7.6 per cent) for the last three decades (1981-2007).
