Zimbabwe tobacco farmer Kobus Joubert looks to the heavens gloomily as he prepares to sleep by the roadside next to his Chegutu farm. Those who know him say they have only seen that look when there is an impending drought. Mr Joubert was evicted from his farm in Scotsdale, located in President Robert Mugabe's home province of Mashonaland West after being handed an eviction order on August 15 this year to pave the way for a takeover by one of Mugabe's leading supporters in the area, Felix Pambukani. The tobacco farmer, a past president of the Zimbabwe Tobacco Association (ZTA) who has lived on the farm for the past 28 years is camped on the highway together with his wife and 18 workers who say they are doing so in support as the tobacco farmer has been like a father to them for all these years.
