Traditionally, governments and non-government organisations (NGOs) such as Greenpeace and the World Wild Fund for Nature have been the main drivers for environmental change. However, as globalisation accelerates, and privatisation spreads, non-government organisations concerned with preserving the variety of life on Earth - biodiversity - are increasingly recognising the widening impact of business, and its potential as a driver for environmental chanqe.
