Silvia campo has a few words of advice for those TABEXPO participants who find themselves with a little time on their hands in Barcelona. Barcelona is often hailed as an example for other cities because of the transformation it has undergone to become the vibrant city that it is today. Over the past few years, it has cleverly modernised itself without forgetting its rich heritage, and it now offers visitors a varied menu of activities from which to choose. Barceloneses are proud of their love of culture - 2m people visit the city's theatres every year- and, in particular, of their love of music. One of their most emblematic institutions is the Gran Teatre del Liceu, which also houses a conservatory of music. It regularly plays host to national and international artists in the fields of opera, dance and music, and it enjoys a privileged position in Las Ramblas, a popular promenade close to the sea.
