A state-of-the-art water treatment plant (WTP) in British Colombia exemplifies sustainable design and advanced water treatment technology. Brian Comerford, utilities manager at the City of Kamloops, and Troy LaPlante, project manager for Zenon Environmental, report on a facility that also promotes cooperative research and education initiatives between public and private organizations. Canada's largest enhanced coagulation, membrane ultrafiltration WTP is now operaling in the city of Kamloops. Capable of supplying up to 160 ML/d, the new River Street WTP is replacing the city's surface water chlorination plant.
