Meanwhile Doppler radar sensors are available as a standard for drive controls and train Protection systems. The properties of such sensors differ greatly form the known wheel sensor Systems. For this reason, the article focuses on the special features of radar sensors in the field Of rail vehicles. The results of extensive field trials are presented and discussed.
