In 1996, Amtrak placed an order with Bombardier as leader of the consortium and GEC Alsthom For the supply of 18 American Flyer tilting trains and 15 locomotives for the North East Corridor. The tilting trains will be placed into service in their basic version, le 6 intermediate cars with A capacity of 345 passengers.
