The goal of the project was to develop novel nitroxide-based anti-biofilm agents by incorporating nitroxides into the structures of antibiotics and biocides and which can then be attached to polymer scaffolds using various tethering approaches. The Fluoroquinolone-nitroxide hybrid compounds were prepared and tested for their anti-biofilm properties as well as their use as fluorescent probes. This grant award also had a collaboration with researchers from the Air Force Research Laboratory. The PI has had 2 peer reviewed papers, and 6 conference presentations and 2 manuscripts submitted as a direct result of the grant.
