Although there is still a place on the market for split-sleeve repair systems, Clock Spring turned out to be the ideal solution for the difficult conditions encountered in repairing the Ninian pipe line. The composite wrap was easy to transport and install, required minimum clearance under the line, and was readily available at reasonable cost. Furthermore, the system is guaranteed for the life of the line. Endurance testing suggests a field life in excess of fifty yearsThis repair of the Ninian line also emphasizes the need for good house-keeping standards during construction. Had the grinding disc been disposed of properly in 1976, the defect would not have occurred.
