Union Gas has streamlined its internal operations, enhanced customer service and reduced operating costs by outsourcing its customer information system (CIS).During its 1998 merger with Centra Gas Ontario, Union Gas faced substantial challenges surrounding the companies' CIS technology Before the merger, both companies had separate billing and customer care systems. Additionally, the new company's legacy mainframe did not offer the flexibility needed to meet short and long-term goals.What was needed was a CIS system flexible enough to respond quickly to business opportunities, and scalable enough to support 1.1 million residential, commercial and industrial customers.
