It is easy for supporters of European gas-market liberalization to get annoyed with the French approach. Dubbed "the slow man of Europe," France is unlikely to incorporate the European Union (EU) Gas Directive into French law until next year. This despite the fact that the date set for EU member countries to incorporate the Directive is August 10 this year.
