We talk about a 30 Tcf market as if it happens all the time. Here we are, hurrying along on a path of accelerated demand and, seemingly, not all that concerned about it. Well, to get there from here and, at the same time, maintain a reserve-to-production ratio on the order of about 8.5 means we'll have to prove up and connect about 300 Tcf of new reserves in the next decade, nearly double what we have in proven gas supply right now.Likely, half of that will have to come from new discoveries. Putting it another way, it simply means that a lot of new pipe will have gone into the ground by the time 2010 rolls around. If the forecast holds, we'll be adding another 30 percent to 40 percent of pipe line and distribution capacity in the coming decade.
