Higher concentration of I. B. A. (2000 ppra) significantly increased the rooting performance of stem cuttings in both varieties i.e. Dr. R.R. Pal and Mrs.H. G. Buck of Bougainvillea which are difficult to root. Although the vrriety Dr. K. R. Pal performed well than Mrs. H. G. Buck.Bougainvillea is one of the most pleasing south American ornamental climbing shrub in the tropical and subtropical part of the world. It belongs to family Nycta-ginaceae have arisen from pure basal species, Bougainvillea spectaville, Bougainvillea glabra, Bougainvillea chrisy and Bougainvillea peruviana. Hump and bonp and in general new forms have arisen as a result of spontaneous mutations, mostly bud mutation. These have resulted into a wide range of bract colours from magenta, red, yellow, and white.
