Purpose: To explore the possibilities of applying various quality tools to improve the performance of sports for maximum performance. Summary: Inthis article the author shares her experience on how she could help athletes and sports persons to achieve maximum performance by applying various quality improvement tools. Recalling the situation where a pitcher was in need of overcoming his problems, the author described about how a manufacturing process can be improved by applying various quality tools. It is observed that the use of statistical tools such as statistical process control is found to be important to monitor important variables of athletes'/sports persons' emotional states reaction time, communication etc. The author concludes by illustrating some of the important roles played by proven quality tools and techniques in helping athletes/sports persons in achieving the maximum performance, (no refs.)
