An unmanned version of the K-Max flying crane helicopter has been operating in Afghanistan as part of a USMC study project for the past 18 months, and all the evidence so far is that it is providing an invaluable service. According to II Grande, the deployment will arrive at its two-year point in November, and is scheduled to continue through FY2014. 'But we've had indications from the marine corps that we'll probably be there as long as they are,' he told Unmanned Vehicles.
