Presented in this issue is a collection of methodologic reviews by leaders in surgical therapy for Parkinson's disease (PD). Each article expresses the specific preferences and prejudices of the author(s) and the insitution. Despite the long history of stereotactic functional neurosurgery for PD and other movement disorders, it remains a topic of perpetual interest to neurologists and neurosurgeons, as well as an area of vigorous disagreement concerning optimal methods, approaches, and techniques.
