The annual average rhodium price, basis the Metals Week New York dealer price, slipped to $1,029.23 in 2013, down 17% from 2012. This was the third consecutive decline in annual average rhodium prices and was the lowest annual average price since 2004, when prices averaged $905.52.The monthly average prices of rhodium strengthened during the first quarter of 2013, rising to $1,206 in March, up from 1,038 in December 2012. The first quarter of the year is typically a strong period for rhodium prices as a result of increased fabrication demand for the metal during this period. Prices slipped lower over the next four months, declining to $950 in July. Rhodium prices moved in tandem with other precious metals over the remainder of the year, rising between August andOctober to a monthly average price of $988 and then declining to $928 in December 2013, the lowest level for prices since July 2004.
