Irrigation in the spring is one of the most important production practices a grower can do. In a mature grove that has been well maintained nutritionally since planting, it has been suggested that the large majority of future production will be determined by water, nitrogen and potassium management. We know that water stress during the spring months can increase young fruit drop and reduce yield, so it is important to irrigate appropriately during this time. The purpose of this article is to discussweather predictions and irrigation practices to consider for winter and spring.
