Here's a guide to recognizing the six types of camellia blooms—plus other ways to distinguish the amazing array of camellia flowers hanks to thousands of natural crosses over hundreds of years and breeding efforts by mankind, we are now blessed withflowers that are far more complex and much more interesting than the original wild camellias. We have come a long way from wild species such as C. japonica, C. sasanqua and C. saluenensis and their single blooms. C. reticulata generally develops semidouble, and occasionally formal double or loose peony, form flowers.
