The Technical Committee FP-002 decided to adopt ISO 7240 series (Fire detection and alarm system) in Australia. Some of these documents were issued for combined procedure on 30 May 2003 and the comments closed on 8 July 2003. These include Standards for Control and indicating equipment (ISO 7240-2); Power supply equipment (ISO 7240-4); Point type smoke detectors using light scattering or transmitted light (ISO 7240-7); Point type heat detectors (7240-5); Multisensor detectors, using both smoke and heat sensors (ISO 7240-15); Self contained smoke alarms (12239) and Sound systems for emergency purposes (60849). The first three Standards will permit a minimum fire detection and alarm system to be installed in a building. These seven projects are expected to be published by the end of 2003.
