The Joint Australian/New Zealand Committee SF-034 on Portable Ladders met recently to consider the comment received from the public review of drafts for new editions of AS/NZS 1892.1, Portable ladders Part 1: Metal, AS/NZS 1892.3, Portable ladders Part 3: Reinforced plastic and a proposed new Part, to deal with stiles made from other materials. This latter draft will become AS/NZS 1892.6 when published and is intended to provide for timber laminates, or any other material not covered in other Parts of the Standard to be used as the principle material in ladder stiles. The three drafts, DR 05081, DR 05082 and DR 05083, were released for review in February this year, with the comment period closing in late April 2005.
