There is increasing emphasis internationally as well as in Australia upon the need for valid and traceable measurements in laboratories. Australian Standards~R provide a benchmark against which laboratory apparatus can be assessed. Australian Standards~R ensure that glassware and related apparatus is suitable for the purpose for which it was designed, is safe to use, is made from appropriate materials, and in the case of volumetric apparatus, is capable of producing the required accuracy. Committee CH-001, Laboratory Glassware and Related Apparatus, is responsible for the drafting and publication of such Standards.
