摘要

The campaign to save the line of ten London plane trees on the forecourt of the old Guardian newspaper building in Farringdon Road (see Tree News issue 16, page 23) has been successful — so far. Two planning applications for the site which included the felling of the trees have been rejected by both the local authority and the Greater London Authority. The damage to the public realm that would result from the loss of the trees and the strength of local opinion on the matter were amongst the reasonsgiven.
