摘要

Americans place the greatest trust in health professionals, pharmacies, and hospitals, according to results of a Wall Street Journal Online/Hams Interactive Health-Care poll of 2,343 US adults. The majority of American adults say that they trust nurses (65%), physicians (61 %), and dentists (56%) "a lot" and many say that they trust pharmacies (49%) and hospitals (44%) "a lot" when asked how much they trust healthcare professionals, providers, and intermediaries to do the right thing for their patients.By a slight but not necessarily significant statistical difference, respondents say that they trust their own physician (63%) or dentist (58%) slightly more to do the right thing for them personally and their health care than they trust those 2 professions in general (61 % and 56%, respectively). This suggests that, when people shift from the physician or dentist in the abstract to their specific practitioner who presents a human face, they react more favorably to the face that they know, but the differences are very modest.
