The resource exploration industry has always been plagued with near-magical oil and ore sniffers. These "voodoo" methods sometimes look like geophysics, but they waste exploration money and damage the reputation and business of real geophysics, as they find nothing new except by chance. They are advertised and written up in industry magazines, and are often protected from exposure by confidentiality, litigation threats, or their victims' embarrassment. Explorers need to be able to separate real geophysics from these voodoo systems.
