The TSX Composite Index fell 1.6 percent over the June 17-23 trading period, down 252.46 points to 14,691.82. The Capped Metals and Mining Index dropped 1.5 percent or about 13 points to 849.93 as weak prices for metals like lead, zinc and nickel continued, finishing the period at 83 US cents 86 US cents and 10.09 US dollars per lb., respectively. Gold, on the other hand, edged its way back up over the 9000 US dollarslevel, but closed at 881 US dollars per oz., down 7.25 US dollars per oz. over the period. The Global Gold Index still gained some ground, up 7.78 points to close at 321.17 points.
