摘要

Things may be looking up for bees, as European regulators start to accept evidence showing the danger of neonicotinoids. But there is still lots more work to be done to protect our bees. This February there were two bits of good news for bees. First was the news that Homebase, B&Q and Wickes were removing two popular bug killers containing the neonicotinoid imidacloprid - one of the pesticides identified as being particularly harmful to bees - from their shelves. A day later, following a safety assessment by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in January, the European Union announced that it was proposing the Europe wide suspension of three specific neonicotinoid pesticides: Imidacloprid, Thiamethoxam and Clothianidin.
