Together with simple questions of fact, academic reference librarians help students with complex questions that range from the academic to the arcane, the successful resolution of which requires an understanding of the nature of Reference and its contents. Meanwhile, with varying degrees of success, students have been resorting to Google for answers to their simple questions. However, it is becoming more obvious that students' distinguishing between what is simple and what is complex is benumbed and undermined by search results so out of proportion, so exorbitant, that it becomes all the same to them.
