U.S. pipe and tube mills operated at 49.9 percent of capacity in July. This is a decrease of 1.1 percent from June. At this time last year, the average operating rate was 57.1 percent of capacity .This decline is attributed primarily to the decrease in oil country tubular goods (OCTG) production. OCTG mills operated at 72.0 percent of capacity.The domestic supply statistics in this report cover shipments by domestic manufacturers for domestic consumption. U.S. export shipments have not been included in this data. The import statistics are prepared by the U.S. Bureau of Census from U.S. Customs Service documents. All quantities are in net tons (2,000 pounds)
