New United States Potato Board (USPB) President and CEO Blair Richardson has many recently enacted and proposed changes to deal with as he settles into his new job. Among the changes, the recent merging of International and Domestic Marketing departments and the creation of a new department focusing on Research and Analysis.Other issues facing Richardson, his staff and the board will be developing policy for GMO potatoes, creation of a new five-year plan set to kick in in 2015, funding policy for the Alliance for Potato Research & Education (APRE), funding policy for new potato variety research, opening new export markets, marketing to millennials and of course finding a way to boost domestic and international consumption and improve consumer attitudes.
