摘要

The survival of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides was assessed in field soil and artificially inoculated soil. The pathogen was not isolated from field soil harbouring infected yam plants or plant debris but fungal organisms such as Aspergillus spp., Rhizoctonia spp., Fusarium spp., Rhizopus spp. and Trichoderma spp. were commonly recovered. C. gloeosporioides on arificially inoculated sterile soil could survive for over 20 weeks, but on non-sterile soil it survived for only 8 weeks. Interaction studies showed that Aspergillus spp. inhibited the radial growth and sporulation of C. gloeosporioides on artificial media, and reduced its survival in sterile soil by 100 percent after 10 days of incubation. Microbial antagonism might be responsible for the apparent non-survival in soil.
