摘要

The properties of machining rate distribution in the machining zone of the hydrodynamic polishing process are experimentally investigated in this study. The patterns of machining rate distributions are compared to that of film thickness distributions between tool and work surface. It is shown that the patterns of machining rate distribution have similar features as that of film thickness one under the non-contact lubricating conditions. The trend of pattern transition due to lubrication change is also the same for both the machining rate and film thickness distributions. It is concluded that the magnitude of machining rate distribution has an inverse relationship with that of film thickness distribution. This inverse relationship implies the appropriateness of the proposed machining theorem that the machining rate of the HDP process is proportional to the shear stress sustained by particles under the non-contact lubricating conditions.
